Thumpers, a new interface and a second character
Plant a thumper and defend it for Oracite, every window and the HUD redone, and room for two characters on one account.

Thumpers
- The Supply Vendorbot sells the Deep Driver for 450 credits. Put it on your hotbar, find open ground out in the wilds and plant it. Its outline turns green where it can stand, and red with the reason where it cannot.
- It thumps for five minutes. The noise draws waves of whatever lives nearby, and they go for the thumper if nobody defends it.
- When it is done, loot the Oracite with F and hold E to pack it up. A Deep Driver lasts five plantings.
- If the server restarts while your thumper is out, you get it back.
New interface
- Every window is redone: shop, market and mail, character sheet, bag, skills, quest journal, dialog, loot and options.
- New HUD: health and jetpack on the console at the bottom with the hotbar, ammo, minimap, quest tracker, a target frame, your portrait and an experience bar.
- Windows have a close button, come to the front when you click them, and can stay open while you play.
- Tooltips show an item's stats in two columns, damage types in their own colour, and a race mark that turns red when your race cannot use it.
- Tap Alt to free the mouse for windows, tap it again to look around. Hold Alt or the right mouse button to look while the mouse is free. Switching away from the game frees the mouse too, so the click that brings you back does not fire your gun.
- Quest text highlights what matters and shows the key to press.
Characters
- Two characters per account. After signing in you see them standing in their gear and pick who to play.
- Deleting asks you to type the character's name. The slot frees up at once, and the character can be restored for 7 days. After that it is gone for good, with its items, credits, mail and listings.
Armour
- Bloblic and Amphibious have armour now, 15 sets each.
- Human Male armour changes the suit underneath it, as it should.
Combat
- Shots stop at other players, townsfolk and vendors. Only a duel opponent takes damage, and you see their health while the duel lasts.
- Ranged creatures fire at a steadier pace, so most bursts are a single shot.
- E talks to the NPC you look at, not the nearest one.
- Shots leave from the muzzle of your gun.
- Shift no longer slows you to a walk.
Other
- You can pick your sound output device in the options, or follow the system default. Switching to a headset works now.
- Footsteps land with your feet, with new recorded sounds.
- The jetpack flame is back.
- New characters start with their weapons and med injections on the hotbar. Right-click puts items on or takes them off.
- Names over people are easier to read.
- Orrin and one of the gate guards are men now.
- oraclerium.com has a new look to match the game, with all four races and links to the X and YouTube channels.
The shop window
Last time I said the shop, market and mail windows needed a big pass. This is it, along with everything else on screen. Tell me on Discord what you think.
